Reports from the IRCC Outlining the 2023 Canadian
Canada has long welcomed immigrants to supplement its aging workforce and to grow its economy. In instance, 437 120 permanent residents (PRs) moved to the country in 2023 and settled all across it. In a final study published by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), this figure represented a startling 8% increase over the number of PRs admitted in 2021.
The publications also show that during the past two years, Canada has established a record for exceeding immigration goals set forth in the Immigration Level Plans for the years 2023–2024. The results indicate that of the 437 PRs registered in 2022, 120 registered in excess of the allotted 5,000 immigrants.
2022 was the only other year, outside 2013 and 2021, that welcomed more than 400 000 immigrants. The worst year ever was 2020 because of the unique COVID-19 pandemic, when the nation could only admit 184, 000 immigrants. In order to stop the viral sickness from spreading, WHO and other health organizations around the world at the time implemented tight travel restrictions.
The Settlement of PRs Will Continue in 2023
The continuation of its economic immigration initiatives was given great priority by the Canadian government. They were accepting immigrants from the business programs, worker programs, temporary residents, and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) categories, among others. More over 58 percent of all new immigrants who were approved for permanent status in 2023 came as a result of these initiatives.

The Majority of Immigrants Admitted
The majority of immigrants admitted to the country come through programs for immigrants of the economic class. Particularly in 2023, the programs were responsible for 256,000 PRs that were approved throughout the nation. This amount exceeded the target set by the Immigration Levels Plan for the years 2023–2024 by an astounding 5.8 percent.
The class immigration programs were another category that attracted several PRs. 97, 165 PR immigrants entered the nation thanks to these categories. This amount was substantial, however the program fell short of the 105, 000 target established under the Immigration Levels Plan for 2023–2024.
22 percent of all PR immigrants approved in 2023 fell under this category. The IRCC, however, had aimed for these categories to generate up to 24% of the overall figure.
